Fellowship Square Summer Season’s fifth final weekend of events concludes with a special multicultural picnic for all the borough to enjoy!
Feast on a diverse choice of tasty food options from local traders including;
African Rose, Curry Cats, Jam Shack, Sweet Tooth (Indian), Maryam Luong, Fellowship Foods and Sheebakes. Or bring your own picnic and blanket to enjoy with friends and family from the comfort of your own picnic spot on the grassy slopes surrounding the square.
Live music and performances will be taking place throughout the day to keep you entertained including aerial acrobatics first seen at Fellowship Square's opening performance and film project “The Sky is Full of Gold”
Plus, there will be a special collaborative performance between Mbilla Arts’ African drummers and Colombian dance troupe Somos Chibchas which will provide a cultural crossover of Gambian and Colombian folklore, creativity, music and dance. Expect infectious rhythms, spectacular costumes and a chance to join in and learn some new dance moves!

For the kids, Go Wildlife Carnival will be offering creative workshops to make butterfly, bat and wildflower handhelds, face masks, teaching the popular 'butterfly dance' and giving a way free activity books.
Walthamstow's Sheebakes will be running cupcake decorating workshops for budding young bakers. The sessions, suitable for 5 to 16 year olds, will cover how to pipe, use colour fondant icing and cut-out decorations with bright, fun toppers. The 30 minute sessions are free and everyone gets to take a box home with them! Session times are: 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm (Max. of 10 people per session).
The Connecting Communities team will also be on hand to introduce you to new ways or reconnecting with other members of the borough through events and community initiatives.
Bring a blanket, choose your picnic spot on the grassy slopes of the square and enjoy all that's on offer. See you there!
Mbilla Arts is a Walthamstow-based African performing arts organisation that facilitates West African drumming workshops and events, as well as dance and storytelling. If you are inspired by the performance, you can join Mbilla Arts and Somos Chibchas every Saturday at their free drop in cultural club in Walthamstow.

The Sky is Full of Gold
"The Sky is Full of Gold" is a specially curated performance and film to celebrate the opening of Fellowship Square with locally co-created dance, music, water and aerobatics. Inspired by William Morris poem "Fair Weather and Foul", the project reflects on difficult times but looks ahead to inspiration and hope. Watch the opening ceremony highlights here.
