In celebration of Waltham Forest becoming the first London Boroughs of Culture, Leyton Sixth Form College is running its own Year of Culture.
As part of this initiative, an exciting new short film about radical thinking has been produced. This unique, collaborative project blends spoken word, physical theatre, dance, rap, art, and music to tell the interviewed thoughts and ideas of the people of Waltham Forest. Although we often associate radical with younger generations, this project explores innovation and transformation in relation to history, tradition and place.
Leyton Sixth Form College is lucky to have a number of industry professionals within its staff body and this piece has been curated by two members of our Expressive Arts department. Artistic director Inez Roberta has worked with film maker Julian Hand to explore the radical potential of our borough by juxtaposing iconic locations and a cast which reflect our diverse community.
Collaborators and performers (whose ages range from 3 to 83) include college students, senior citizens, professional artists and 2 very familiar faces! Join us for a reception, a showing of the film and a Q and A discussion with members of the cast and crew. Tickets are entirely free!
