Are you an artist, designer or performer struggling to get your career started?
Would help with the cost of studio space, learning opportunities or equipment move your practice forward?
Do you feel you're not represented in the arts today?
We are pleased to announce The Breakthrough Fund - Ten new bursaries to help under-represented young people (aged 18-25) from Waltham Forest to pursue their career in the Arts. It is open to a wide range of creatives from writers, artists and photographers to game designers, directors and musicians.
Up to £3,000 will be awarded to each recipient along with the opportunity to join a programme that includes additional mentoring and advice.
The funding will be split in to four parts:
Career Development Bursary £1,500
To cover costs towards training, equipment or space hire that is beneficial to your career development, including - but not limited to:
- Training and workshops
- Studio or workspace hire
- Travel and expenses
- Mentor or tutor time
- Developing new collaborations
- Materials and equipment with associated activity
Professional Development and Networking
Regular professional development and networking meetings will take place between April-December 2021. These include sessions led by industry professionals, skills development, work with mentors and ongoing peer-to-peer learning.
Maintenance Bursary £1,000
This will help to remove financial barriers to pursuing a creative career. You do not need to report on how you spend this, it can go on covering day to day expenses (such as rent, childcare, groceries or bills) to allow you more time to dedicate to the learning you have identified in your application. This funding will be paid in installments across the year.
Final presentation £500
To cover the costs of a presentation of your final work, learning and/or production over the year. This could be a performance, exhibition or a panel discussion to share your learning. You can work individually or as a group, pooling funds.
