Virtual Culture Programme 2020

Welcome to the Virtual Culture Programme 2020!

Waltham Forest Council is pleased to announce the second phase of their Virtual Culture programme devised in response to Covid-19. Created by artists and creators of Waltham Forest, which was the Mayor’s first London Borough of Culture - the last two months saw phase one of the programme jam packed with over 150 new projects, with over 20,000 residents participating, helping to support people through this challenging time.

We’ve seen fantastic artistic creations, lockdown films, communities dancing and sing alongs in care homes, groups discussing literature, poetry and spoken word and so much more. It’s been great to see our communities still coming together in a new virtual environment, despite the lockdown, to try new things and get conversations going.

From Tuesday 26 May we will launch six original new projects led by some of the most innovative and exciting artists currently working in Waltham Forest. These projects will run for a few months, encouraging residents to create and connect, whilst helping to make beautiful and inspiring work together.

We've also still got lots of activities for you to revisit from phase 1 of the project, so if you need something to keep you busy make sure to check them out.

We will continue to develop this programme in partnership with the Barbican as part of our joint commitment to supporting artists and cultural organisations in Waltham Forest. Please keep an eye on this page and our social media feeds for more activities and projects and for future opportunities.

Funded by the Great Place scheme in Waltham Forest: Creative Connections, a programme supported by Arts Council England and the National Lottery Heritage Fund.  The Great Place Scheme is designed to put arts, culture and heritage at the heart of the local community.
