Waltham Forest Council has had a great response to its Virtual Culture programme during lockdown and is now starting to plan things offline and outdoors. And we want you to get involved. From film screening to dancing, new art works to documentaries, our virtual culture programme is evolving as lockdown eases.
Lockdown kites made by residents will fly free and local performers will be live on the airwaves. Films made by Waltham Forest kids and adults will be screened, and later in the summer, plays created in lockdown will become open-air theatre. Building on the success of being the Mayor’s first London Borough of Culture in 2019, Waltham Forest’s Culture programme will start to bring what was created virtually to festivals, open spaces and the high street.
Funded by the Great Place scheme in Waltham Forest: Creative Connections, a programme supported by Arts Council England and the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The Great Place Scheme is designed to put arts, culture and heritage at the heart of the local community.
Now, who's ready to get involved?
