Waltham Forest is full of people from diverse backgrounds with interesting stories to tell. A new book from Stories & Supper, containing mouth-watering global recipes, will showcase the talent of refugee and migrant chefs in the borough, and focus on their life stories.
Anyone who’s been to a Stories & Supper event knows that they’ve worked with some seriously talented chefs. Now with the support of Waltham Forest London Borough of Culture 2019, Stories & Supper will create a cookbook to share some of those incredible dishes.
More than just a collection of recipes, the book will also feature the stories of refugees and migrants involved in the project, with first-person accounts of migration experiences and personal journeys. Celebrating the diversity and tradition of welcome in the borough, ‘More than a recipe Book’ will challenge negative narratives about migration by bringing people together through food and stories.
A team of refugees, asylum seekers and local volunteers will write, test and refine recipes. While a series of storytelling workshops will boost the confidence and skills of refugee storytellers.
Join Stories & Supper at two exciting events to celebrate the launch of their new book of global recipes and powerful migration stories
