Artist Gayle Chong Kwan is creating a tapestry of dreams had during the Covid-19 Emergency. Starting with people who live in Waltham Forest, she will collect words and images of dreams which she will embroider into the inside seams and folds of clothes, to be exhibited and featured online later this summer. For many, the Covid-19 Emergency has been characterised by more intense and better remembered dreams, due to longer sleep times, less social interaction, and trying to process past, present and possible futures. At a time when physical touch is also severely restricted, Chong Kwan’s Dream Tapestry links people through the intimacy of clothes and night time dreaming.
You are invited to contribute words and images of a vivid or intense dream you have had during the Covid-19 Emergency, which Gayle will embroider as part of the communal dream tapestry.
